Although I grew up for most of my
life in Fairfield Connecticut, I was born in
Hunstville Alabama (a fact that John will never
let me live down). I first got into playing music
in the second grade when I began taking guitar
lessons at a local music shop. When I hit the
sixth grade I was introduced to the electric
guitar by best friend Eric Videgain who soon
became my musical compatriate. We played together
in various bands throughout Junior HS and High
School (including The Grand Oak Band, Pegasus,
Missing Lynx - yuck! and The Cryptical Sound
Project - my favorite) until we parted ways to
head off to different colleges.
At James Madison Univeristy (Harrisonburg, VA) I
began playing with several guys who had
previously played in a band with John (Ottoman & The Turks) but were ready to "step
up" to playing with me (please note
intentional harrassing of John in previous
statement). We called ourselves "Glass
Onion" and played around Virginia until
about 1992 when we all had long since graduated
and families and work became more of a focus.
In the Summer of 1999, realizing that John was
living "just down the road" in
Powhatan, I contacted John and (easily) sold him
on the idea that we should be in band together!
Big Boss Man was born... well actually we went
through several worse sounding names first
including: Mr. Blueski, Sector 7G and of course,
"nobody." Michael joined us shortly
thereafter and we were off and running...
...that's like way more info than you wanted,
isn't it... |
